One of the time-tested methods to successfully raise funds for a cause is through a personal fundraising letter sent by an individual to her/his friends, family, colleagues and business associates. To make this task easier for our Drivers & Navigators, we have prepared a "fundraising form letter" which you may download by clicking the link below. Simply fill in the name and address of the recipient along with your name and contact information and drop it in the mail. Feel free to modify and customize the content as you please.
Fundraising Form Letter
If you prefer, simply provide us with a list of contacts with addresses and we will work with you to personalize, prepare and mail your letters for you. To get started call or email Ashley or Ethel at the Foundation office:

Ethel: 514-369-2222 ext. 1303 │ info@sinairally.org
Inviting your friends, family and colleagues into your home for a simple event (BBQ, Wine & Cheese, Dinner, Lunch, Tea Party) is one of the time-tested ways to appeal to the people around you to offer their support to a cause you have embraced. Ask us how we can help you to plan and execute such an event; it's easier than you think!
Here’s how we can help:
- Send out invitations to a list of contacts you provide us
- Make follow-up phone calls to your list of invitees
- Suggest suppliers and provide advice on how to plan the logistics of your event (food, drinks, rentals, etc…)
In fundraising, it is a well established truism that “people give to people.” The idea behind this is that most people are bombarded with requests to support a million and one “good causes,” so the deciding factor usually comes down to the person who is asking the donor for support and the relationship they have.
Email Blast
Emails can be a great way to introduce your fundraising project to potential supporters. They are less personal than a letter, but also much easier (even if we do the letter mailing for you) since you don’t have to collect mailing addresses, send them to us and then sign each individual letter.
Follow-up Phone Calls
If you opt to send an email to some of your potential donors, it is very important to follow it up with a phone call directly from you. This adds the personal touch and encourages the person-to-person giving that is so important in a successful fundraising drive.
The best and most personal way to ask for someone’s support (particularly if it is for a larger sum) is in a face-to-face encounter.
- To do this, call your friend, family member, colleague or whoever it is, and ask them if they can meet you for lunch or coffee. Bring a brochure and a formal letter addressed to the person (you may send the letter and/or brochure in advance if you prefer).
- After engaging in some friendly small talk, explain the valuable, high quality, specialized care that Mount Sinai provides to its patients. Then touch on why supporting our hospital is important in general and why it is especially important to you.
- Do not be shy to make your request very plainly and clearly. Come right out and say: “I would be grateful if you would consider a gift of $xxx to support my drive for Mount Sinai Hospital.”
- Remember that there are significant exposure/marketing benefits available for any business that wishes to give an amount exceeding $2,500. Refer to our brochure or click the “Sponsorship” tab on our website for more details.
